I thought it was that I has posted AA related material.
I figured out what happened to my viewers. It's not that they stopped visiting, but where being redirected to another site. Somehow my DNS code got changed to a one page free site I had on GoDaddy. For the past couple of weeks, anybody traveling to this site was sent to that site. All fixed now.
I thought it was that I has posted AA related material.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
Hello there. My name is Russell Dumka. This is my blog page.
I am new to blog pages so bare with me .
I have had this website for quite some time now. I have let it slide lately. I need to show a presence here more often. I have a blog page on my sister site radicalartisticdesign.ca and I have let that slide also.
I am wondering where all my viewers went. I check in every so often to see how many people are viewing my websites. But this site has gone from eight to ten visitors a week down to one. Why? The only thing I did differently was add the AA How it Works, the Traditions, the Preamble and the Promises.
I know AA is not for everybody, but it has saved my life. Twelve years ago I was hopelessly addicted to crack cocaine and as much beer or other alcohol as i could drink. One day I just decided that I was sick and tired of living this way, so I walked away from my partner and everything else that I owned, I went to my doctor and asked for help. That started a long chain of events which led to to where I am today. Ten years clean and sober come July of this year. AA has played a big part of my recovery so I wanted to share the message.
I"ve been struggling lately. But things are going my way until today
Sit down This is a good one.
In AA it states that if left to our own devises we get into trouble but if we follow or turn our lives over to our higher power that we shall be OK
I usually get along great with my higher power. He provides for me and usually keeps me happy. But sometimes he plays tricks on me just to remind me of what is.
I haven't had a drink in almost a week. Today was welfare day. So after the relations had left for the day I went out again. I went to the welfare office where and submitted forms so that they will pay my first months rent.(can't believe Alberta) I don'thave to pay it back and it is extra other than my welfare cheque.
That done I went and purchased a small and a large hard lemonade. I quickly drank the small one and then set out for unfamilier territory to consume the large bottle. I must have been a mile into the bush , I was sipping along the way I got to a spot that so remote I thought I would have to turn back and return the way I came. So I finish chugging the bottle . What do I do with the empty . My higher power said take it with you , I said screw it and tossed it and continued forward looking for a trail.. I made it about ten feet when I hear "Ahem." I turn around and there is (I learned his name later) Ranger Ken armed with shotgun and pistol and he wants to know why I threw a bottle into the bush. He retrieved the evidense and then marched me back a mile and a half through the bush to his truck. He let me off easy, he didn't charge me for consuming liquor in a public place but he did issue me a ticket fo littering. Going to cost me a $110 for making the wrong decision. I believe in my Higher Power . He takes care of me , he provides for me and he educates me when I need it..
It is now almost two oclock in the afternoon and I have been up since god knows when. I have to work tonight. I went into the bush so nobody could possibly see me drink. Ha Ha! Higher Power said "I don't think so"
All right allready I believe in a power greater than myself. I should have step two.
But No! Sponsor says go back and read it again until you understand what it means.
I can't believe that story.
It reminds me of the time in Ottawa when Jim was delivering bread and driving a bread truck. He took his foot of the gas to make at right hand turn at a red light. He got distracted by a noise in the back of the truck and rear-ended a car who rear-ended the car in front of the car that Jim had hit.
This is where it get's good. Both of the other vehicles were driven by cops on their way to work. They didn't even work at the same station. Oh and the lady in the first car was pregnant.
A few years back I was covering for the newspaper and was driving to an assignment. I looked down and was in the process of writing a short message to myself when I was distracted by a mail box that I had just hit. When I looked back I was heading towards a power pole while doing an Evil Kenevil along the side of the grass ditch at the side of the road, trying to stop the truck by using the gas pedals as the brakes.
Somehow I managed to swing the truck around and it went across the road into the ditch and through a farmer's fence and through his field of hay.
He had to hold the wire up so I could drive out and for an entire year until the field was cut the trail of the truck could be seen growing in the hay. Luckily I missed the line of oak trees bordering his property.
Maybe it's being distracted from our goals that creates all of this mayhem for ourselves?
The fine is stiff, but you could have passed out, and never been found, in the bush, until it was too late.
This is my sister in law's reply to the above letter.
I turned 67 yesterday, How did I get so old?
I have turned 65, a few weeks ago now. I am surprised that Aish funded me till the end of Nov. Also CPP disability paid me for Nov. I was afraid I would be cut off and not knowing when my regular pension kicks in, I stashed enough away to pay the rent if needed.
I am 64 going on 65 this year. I am partly crippled due to a spinal cord injury that happen many years ago now. I belong to AA because I had a drinking and drugging problem in the past. I have been clean and sober coming up ten years.
